LIFE ESSAY CONTEST
Guidelines for the Life Essay Contest:
As part of the efforts of Lutherans For Life of Michigan to educate our young people on Life Issues, we are sponsoring a Life Essay Contest.
All Lutheran congregations are encouraged to participate in this contest by presenting this information to their 7th and 8th grade students. Essays should be written under the guidance of the pastor or teacher, and submitted by the deadline of February 28th. The essays will then be read and judged. (Congregations should judge their own students’ essays first, and then send the top one to three entries on to the state contest.) Monetary prizes ($150 for 1st; $100 for 2nd; $50 for 3rd) will be awarded to the three essayists who score the highest at the state level.
The topic should center on one of these Life Issues: Abortion, Sexual Purity before Marriage, Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide, or Embryonic Stem Cell Research and Cloning.
It is our hope and prayer that this contest will be a valuable exercise in teaching our young people the value of human life, the need to protect that life, as well as the need for sexual purity and marital faithfulness.
